Words

Look up any word with AI-generated definitions, save it to your personal vocabulary, and track mastery over time.

Word Lookup

Click any word in the translation log or overlay to trigger an AI-powered dictionary lookup. The LLM generates a context-aware definition that includes:

  • Primary meaning in context
  • Alternative meanings
  • Part of speech
  • Example usage from the game

Definitions are generated by the same LLM used for translation, so they understand game-specific terminology and context.

Word Book

Save looked-up words to your Word Book for later review. Each entry stores:

  • The word and its definition
  • The original context (sentence where you found it)
  • The game profile it came from
  • Timestamp and language pair
  • Mastery tracking (correct/wrong counts from quizzes)

Lite: Up to 100 words (cumulative). Standard: Unlimited.

Export to Anki

Your Word Book isn't locked in. Export to Anki (TSV) — from the Word Book or TOOLS → Integration — writes a playto_vocab.tsv file with one row per word: the word, its definition, and the in-game context it came from.

In Anki, use File → Import, set the field separator to Tab, and map the three columns to your note fields. Words and Sentences can also be exported as plain CSV for a spreadsheet or another study tool.

This is an export, not a live sync — pull a fresh TSV whenever you want to top up your deck. Full walkthrough: turning game vocabulary into an Anki deck.

Spaced Repetition (SRS)

Every saved word is scheduled for review. Each correct answer pushes its next review further out, and a word becomes due when that date arrives. Words move through four stages by review interval:

  • New — not reviewed yet
  • Learning — interval under 7 days
  • Young — interval of 7–21 days
  • Mature — interval of 21 days or more

The mastery bar at the top of the Word Book and each word’s Learning Progress show where it stands. Review and the Practice modes draw from your Word Book, starting with the words that are due.

Review reminder: Playto can send a Windows notification when words are due, at a time you choose (21:00 by default). Turn on starting Playto with your PC if you want the reminder on days you haven’t opened it.

Editing & Regeneration

Manual editing: Click any word entry to edit its definition in the detail panel. Useful for correcting AI definitions or adding personal notes.

AI regeneration: Request a fresh AI-generated definition if the original wasn't accurate. The LLM re-generates using the stored context.

Blacklist

When auto-save is enabled, Playto automatically saves words it encounters during gameplay. The blacklist lets you exclude specific words from auto-saving — useful for proper nouns, game UI labels, or words you already know well.

Blacklists are per Game Profile, so different games can have different exclusion lists.

Auto-Save

The Auto-save words setting has two values:

  • Manual (default) — only the words you save, during play or in Session Review
  • Auto — Playto also saves words from translated lines as they appear

Auto-save filters out stop words (common function words), short words (<4 characters), and blacklisted words.
