Getting Started
Get Playto running in minutes and start learning languages through the games you love.
Installation
From Steam
- Search for Playto on Steam, or visit the store page directly.
- Pick the edition:
- Lite — free version with the core translation workflow.
- Standard — paid edition with resident mode, cursor-follow capture, full AI engine tiers, and higher limits.
- Click Install (Lite) or Purchase (Standard). Steam downloads and installs Playto automatically.
- Launch Playto from your Steam Library.
Initial Setup (Setup Wizard)
On first run, a short setup wizard asks for your languages, shows a few screens about how Playto works, and gets the translation engine ready. There is nothing else to configure before you start.
Languages
The interface language, the game language (what you want to read), and your language (what meanings are shown in). All three can be changed later: the interface language in TOOLS › App settings, the other two at the top of the TOOLS menu.
Engine download
A compact translation model ships inside the installer, so translation works from the first launch. No account, no key. You can pause and resume without losing progress, or pick Look around the app first and let it run in the background. If you'd rather not wait — or the download won't finish on your network — Playto Cloud can translate right away while the models arrive. When it finishes, Try it on your own screen takes you straight into a capture.
Playto then offers a 3-minute tutorial on a practice game scene: reading the screen, seeing the translation, keeping words. It works while the model is still downloading, and if you skip it, it stays under First steps.
After that, turn on resident mode (Standard edition) on the Home screen and launch the game you want to learn from. When the game comes to the front, a small bar appears at its top right with the keys and switches you need — no profile to pick first, no region to draw.
Basic Workflow
Capture
Two ways in: read straight from the bar resident mode puts on your game, or press Start on Home and answer three questions — which game, how to read it, where to read. Meanings appear on top of your game window in real time.
Save
Tap any word to see its definition and save it to your word book. Words are automatically tagged with the game context where you found them.
Practice
Review saved words with quiz modes and SRS scheduling. Complete daily quests for bonus XP. Track your progress with achievements and vocabulary coverage.
Default keys: F4 reads the screen once, F2 starts and stops, F3 pauses, F5 shows or hides the overlay. All four can be rebound under TOOLS › Shortcuts if your game already uses one of them.

- GPU: NVIDIA (CUDA), AMD, or Intel (Vulkan) with 4GB+ VRAM (6GB+ recommended).
- RAM: 8GB+
- Disk: ~5GB for AI models
